Audio-Technica BP880R is a waterproof piezoelectric contact microphone designed to capture impact and surface vibrations rather than traditional airborne sound. This makes it particularly useful for sports broadcasting, film production, field recording, theater, and specialty sound-effects applications where physical movement and vibration are part of the desired audio experience.
The low-profile BP880R can be mounted directly to surfaces, submerged in water or ice, installed in flooring, buried underground, or attached to structures and objects in the field of play. Its corrosion-resistant DZR brass body and waterproof construction provide performance equivalent to IPX7, while multiple mounting holes provide installation flexibility.
A high-sensitivity piezoelectric sensor and internal preamplifier support long cable runs. The microphone includes a fixed 20 m / 65.6 ft waterproof cable terminating in a 3-pin male XLR connector and operates from 20–52V phantom power. Because it has very little sensitivity to airborne sound, the BP880R helps isolate structure-borne impacts and vibrations from surrounding ambient noise.
