The DIB-490 is a dual-channel active direct box from the Hosa Pro-Conex Sidekick series, designed for stereo or dual mono signal management. It features transformerless active circuitry powered by 48V phantom power and provides two unbalanced 1/4" TS inputs with corresponding balanced XLR outputs. The unit includes two 1/4" TS thru outputs for signal passthrough. Input attenuation is selectable across three levels: 0dB, -15dB, and -30dB. Additional controls include Ground Lift and Polarity Reverse switches to address ground loop hum and phase issues.

This direct box is optimized for high-impedance sources such as stereo keyboards, synthesizers, drum machines, and dual mono instruments. It maintains high input impedance to preserve signal integrity and supports high-headroom operation to accommodate a range of output levels. The compact chassis facilitates stereo operation or two separate mono signals while providing essential signal conditioning functions suitable for stage and studio environments.
